SERVICE COMKITTES On April 14, 15, aha 16, 1960 a peace march from the Great Lakes Naval Training Conter to the Morrison Hotel in Chicago's Loop was conducted and a peace rally was beld at the Morrison Hotel on the afternoon of April 16, 1960. Infor- mation concerning this march and rally has been obtained from public sources, including the Chicago Tribune, tho Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago American. 40 persons began the march at the Naval Training Center on Thursday. They stayed Thursday nigbt in Lake Forest, Illinois and Friday night in Evanston, Illinois. On Saturday they were joined by more than 300 sympathizers. The denonstrator carried placards reading, “Disarmament Now" and “Bun the Bomb." “ . vo The group wes led by Dr. WILLIAWDAYIDON, Bhycicist at the Argonne National Laberatory and Chairnjan of-the Chicaga - Chapter of the Federation of American Scientists. -he rally was sponsored by the Amorican Friends Servica Committee, Quaker organization and the Fellowship of Reqonciliation, dus-— eribed as an international group working toward ending violence ., , between men.
