The AVSC hay found varied channels of expression for
our concern that equality of eppertunity may become real
for school children, home-scekery or gol hunters, In these
ways each of Sou has a tole, since all of us—stall, commitice
members and contibutors — collectively constitute the
ASC.
The fate summer crisis after the first Negro family bought
ahome in Levittown, Pennsylvania, has required almost con-
stant attention and assistince of a stall member, ABSC guid:
ance helped stabilize the situation in that community and
brought recognition for “positive and forthright leadership”
from Richard Nisen. ‘the comment wats included mat letier
from the Vice President acknowledging the Committee's
Tecent appeal to President Eisenhower to speak out elearly
on the racial situation.
More than a year of work in the North Caroling schoui
Program came to a chmactic point with the peacelu! encoil-

When the Little Rock crisis first developed. the Board ot

A stall member's week-fang trip to Little Rock in Sep-
tember enabled us to pet a deeper insight into the compley
problems of that troubled community. His observations
brought inte sharper focus the need to continue our recon:
ciling efforts, and the need to plin ahead to prevent misun-
derstanding and crises in other areas of peteaual tension.
In the coming Christmas season we will be thinking of
peace and brotherhood and goodwill toward all men. We
here at the AFSC will continue seeking to implement these
ideals wt home and abroad during the newt year. We bone
you will continue to share this spiritual adventure with us
