NOTE: Ccrrespondent's enclosure was an envelope of literature she received
from the American Friends Service Committee, _ Philadelphia, Pa. Bufile
GREP -cLiccis that this Committee has opposed inilitary conflict,
preparodness and drafting of men since its foundation in 1917. It is very actiy
in local and foreign relief. During World War 1 it assisted conscientious
objectors, and in cooperation with the U.S. Government aided in rétlocating
Japanese from the west coast. It sponsored and aided Pendic Hill, “a school f
study of racial and religious problems in Wallingsford, Pa, This school had
occasional visitors who were security risks, but there was no indication that
they carricd on subversive activities through or at Pendle Hill. There have b
reports of communist infiltration, and in 1942, American Friends Servieo
; Sittee was investigated under the caption, | ema and was
