On Wednesday, March 27, 1974, this Division was
contacted telephonically by Jerry Cohen, counsel in
California for the United Farm Workers Union
(tel. 805-822-5571). Cohen related that he had been
~~ contacted by a person who provided the fictitious name
of "Fred Schwartz". Schwartz purported to have infor-
mation that three people had at numerous times over
the past several years broken into various United Farm
Worker Union offices in ‘California, as well as the
offices of other organizations assisting the UFWU and
their activities, including SNCC and the Saul Alinsky
j Organization. Cohen received the impression that
Schwartz was an attorney and was representing one of
the persons responsible for the break-ins. Schwartz
wanted $35,000 for evidence he would providg linking

in fact the object of an armed robbery last year and
