Hyde on the steps of the City Hall. More than 1000 persons ettendcdc a rally on the evening of March 25th at the Azteca Theater, West Fresno, a movie house which/features Spanish-speaking films. After the rally, Caesa@ havez expressed disappointnent upon receiving the news that Governor Edmund G. Brown, Governor of the State of California, planned to be vacationing in Palm Springs, California, when the marchers arrived in Sacramento on Zaster Sunday, April 10, 1966. Chavez, when tcld the Governor had stated he planned to "pay his respects" to the marchers along their route to the Capitol, stated, "We're not interested in respects....We're interested in action." On April 5, 1966, "The Daily Enterprise," a Riversids, California, publication, reported that Governor Edmund G. "Paw" Brown has been asked to mect with some 500 supporters of striking Delano grape workers in Palm Springs on Easter Sunday, cn the grounés of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
