Octoucr, 1965 and in January, 1966:
Gn September 3, 1965, the Agricultural Vorkers
erganizing Comaittec (AOC), AFL-CIO, witii icadguarters
in Wiashingten, D. C., declared a strike against the grape
Growers in Tulare and Kern Counties, California with 72
Filipino grape pickers participating. On September 19, 1965,
the National Farm Workers Association (TWA) also joined this
strike, which then drousht the Mexican anc Puerto Ricans into
thic matter. The puroose of the strike vias supposedly to
increase wages of the Grape picker:
