STRIKE IN RIO GRANDE CITY, TEXAS

The March 26, 1967, edition of The San Antonio
Light, a daily San Antonio, Texas , newspaper, carried an
article captioned "Student Caravan Takes Aid to Farm
Workers" which states that a 25-car caravan originating
in Austin, Texas, had traveled to Rio Grande City on
March 25, 1967, éarrying food, medicine, and clothing to
striking farm workers in the Rio Grande City area. k
According to the article, this caravan was joined s
at Corpus Christi, Texas, by approximately 100 individuals =
from the Houston-Corpus Christi areas. -
The article stated the purpose of the caravan ‘
was to serve as a morale booster for the striking farm
workers.
