July 6, 1967 ACTIVITIES CONCERNING FARM WORKERS STRIKE IN RIO GRANDE CITY, TEXAS MISCELLANEOUS - INFORMATION CONCERNING The June 30, 1967, edition of the Valley Morning Star, a daily newspaper published at Harlingen, Texas, carries an SF Shticle on page one captioned "U.S. Senators Show Favor to Unionizing" which states members of the Senate Sub-Committee on Migratory Labor hoiding hearings on the previous day at Rio Grande City, Texas, showed open favor to unicnizing far: lacor and that most of the session was given to cortentions fron union members that Texas Rangers used brutality in ms’ ing arrests during the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee (UFWOC) organizing campaign in Starr County, Texas. The same newspaper carried a second article on paze one captioned "Sub Panel Men Rated Mostly Labor-Liberal" which states that the Americans for Democratic Actions (ADA™ in 19€6 rated Senator Ted Kennedy (Democrat, Massachuzitts) a voted “right" one hundred per cent of the t The Senator Harrison Williams (Democrat, he» Je yy, ct the above-mentioned Senate Sut-Committee. as ving “right” nine-five per cent of the time.
