After being on strike since September 1965 and after winning three major contracts, the Delano farm workers must contend with thousands of illegal strike breakers, The powerful California growers, are attempting to break the strike with Mexican Nationals. Right now they are recruiting "green card holders," aliens with work permits, in Calexico, California. Once across the border, they will be sent to Delano's grape fields. On July 10, 1967 a Justice Department regulation (Number 8CFR211.1 to Public Law 414, the Naturalization and Imnigration Act of 1952) prohibited the tise of green card holders when the Secretary of Labor declared a labor dispute exists. The California Labor Department, an agent of the U.S. Labor Department, has certified that bona fide labor disputes exist in Delano. This attempt by growers to break a unicn must be stopped.
