he was at my house. I should say that was about eighteen months ago,
I went on duty in January, January 2, if I am not mistaken, of this
year and I haven't heard from hin directly or indirectly. I see
Colonel LOVE every so often and he hasn't mentioned seeing him, and
I am sure he would because they were very close friends.
"@. Do you know of any other officers that are close friends
of Colonel LINDBERG?
"A. The Colonel SIDTH that I was talking about—he was on
General Staff and I believe in Gernany, and he may still be there. I
don't “know. Colonel LOVE is one of my best friends, but Colonel LINDB&RGH
was an acquaintance." Caentenant ERADFORD advised that the Colonel SMITH
referred to is Colonel TRUALYSHITH. )
"Q. Do you know of any other officers that LINDBERCH was
acquainted or intirate with, or friends with by your own knowledge or
by hearsay?
"A. No, I don't. At the time he was on activ2 duty here
(I am speaking of Colonel LINDBERGH.}, he was, I believe, in a board
for the development of circraft. The night he was out there our dis-
cussion was on whet kind of an airplane we needed for observation
we had a,long discussion on that. Some others were present thet night--
IDEN and ROY/ALSEANDEN of Time Mazazine, wie wis Lormerly
ng officer of the 110th.
"Q. Do you know iajor LANPHERE?
"A, You mean TOM’LANPHERE? I have met him. I worked for
MeCann & Erickson, Inc., in civilian life and we handled lots of accounis-~
Ford, Standard Oil. Major LANPHENE was working for Ford on a new engine,
I think.
Do you know anything about the relationship between
General -CUUSINS and Colonel LINDBERCH?
"A, Ihave been very intimate with General COUS
number of years and there is no relationship.
‘for a
uJ. There is nothing to believe that Generai COUSIN.
know about Colonel LINDUBERGI's contacts and associations, etc.?
"A. No, sir, Goneral COUSI!'S is my best friend and if there
was anything-- as a matter of fact, I think he is very much oppo ed to
LINDBORGH,
"Z. That was what I was anxious to know, because people wid
are not too friend2; with others know more about them than their enemies.
