Hindenburg, Irvington, New Jersey, a copy of the Germen-Americen Bund news
paper, the Free American, Upon purchase of this newepaper, the agent was
given two tickets to the America First Rally, which was helé April 23, 1941
in New York City with Colonel CHARLES a feribtsct as the principal speeker,
This information wes later conveyed tel honically to Spectel Agent :

The two tickets received are being included in inctent file, ‘
On May 23, 1941 while in Hoboken on other official business,
the reporting agent observed that a store by the neme of FISHERS, 56 Second
Street, Hoboken, had the German-American newspeper on sale,
On June 26, 1941 the Bund newspaper carried an article commenting
upon the freezing of German funde in connection with which bund funds were also
frozen, The article offers to split on a fifty-fifty basis with anyone who
can find funds paid the Bund by the German government or its agente at any
time in the past, In the same edition there was a statement to the effect
that Secretary MORGENTHAU had addressed a letter to the Free American esking
for its assietance in enlisting the savings of the American people in the
task of finencing the nationel defense program, It etetes, "The Free American
is unquelifiedly for the defense of the U. S, ageinst any foreign eggressor
and will support any petriotic measure to that end." In the seme edition
under the title, "Notice to Our Reeders", it is explained that the funds of
the Free American have been frozen and that in the future a six instead of an
8 pege peper will be published, It further comvents that it is to be noted
thet Communist funds in the U, S, have not been tied up end requests all
subscribers to remit only by means of cash in the future, sending it either
