"Viereck was a practical man. The contents of the speech he had ;repared
for Lundeen were not wasted. Shortly after the Senator's deata, a speech with
similar title and contents was delivered by Theodore Tr ffnan, head of the
Steuben Society. Tne Hoffman speecn was inserted in the Congressional hecord,
reprinted anc mailed around the country postage free under tne franking privilege
of Senavor Gerald P. Nye of North Dakota." '

the necessity of 2 war referendum.' Vierecx explained that he nad aireacy ciscussed
the matter at length with Congressman Sish."
The authors furnish below a list of the meabers of Con:ress whose frenking
privilege was used "in tais huge caispaim of psycholocical sabotage." They also aad
that, "Seyona question, sowe of these Congressmen were totally unsiare that their
frankin, privilege was bein; used to further the scheses ot the Axis, out the racts
are a matter of public record.”
