broadcasted a message allegedly from MANSON to the effect
that if he did not receive a copy of the taped National
Enquirer interview, he was going to have th three
officials of the National Enquirer killed. stated

advised he was the "family manager" of the MANSON family,
and that he was calling on behalf of MANSON and desired to
know the status of the taped interview and pictures,
stating these had perviously been promised to MANSON.
RICE also claimed the tape and photos would be used by

photos and information from the tape. [___ asked RICE
if an interview of [~___l]by National Enquirer could be
arranged, and RICE stated he would have| all, which

by National Enquirer during January, 1977. advised
RICE was pleasant in this conversation, and asked that he
be advised concerning the tape and photos and furnished
an address of P. 0. Box 125, telephone number (415) 841-6500.

1976, they interviewed MANSON for one hour and twenty minutes
at Vacaville, California, Medical Facility, and had taped
the interview and taken pictures. Both denied promising
MANSON photos or copy of the tape, and both advised they
had received the letter at National Enquirer from MANSON
following the interview and publication of the article dated

on January 21, 1977, at the Metropolitian Correctional Center,
San Diego, California, and that she agreed to call him on
January 27, 1977, at San Francisco, and to_obtain his tele-
