Memorandum to Mr, DeLoach RE: BAPBOMB In his letter, Carmichael refers to a visit to Birmingham by "Red Blake and Kenneth Royal, * apparently referring to the visit to Birmingham by Presidential emissaries, former coach Col, Earl 'tRed't Blaik and former Sécretary of the Army Kenneth Royal, who were sent to Birmingham immediately following captioned bombing to survey the racial situation in that city and in particular to look into instant case. A copy of another letier from Carmichael, also dated 4/29/68, to Senator Lister Hill (Democrat - Alabama), has also been received. In that letter, Carmichael requests Senator Hill to make efforts to: require retirement of Supreme Court Justices at age 70; allow Girard College in Philadelphia to continue to operate as stipulated by the founder (for white orphan male children only); and to stop student demonstrations at educational institutions which seek a voice in the administration of those institntions.
