The International Terrorism Operations Section Wf supports, coordinates, and
provides oversight of PBI mtemational CT operations related to other groups,
such as Hizballah, HAMAS, and Palestinian islamic Jihad, as well ag the terrorist
threat from state sponsors of terrorism.
The Domestic Terrorism Weapons of Mass Destruction Operations Section
supparis, coordinates, and provides oversight of FBI domestic CT operations,
inchiding anumal nghts extremists and eco-terrorists In addition, this Section’s
Special Events Unit plays a mayor role in planning, ae and managing
support to fleld offices charged with CT responsibilities es for special events suck as
the Super Bowl, the Olympic Games, and the Regublican and Democratic
Nahonal Conventions.
The Terrorism Reports and Requrernents Section (TRRS) oversees the
dissemination of raw intelligence reports and implements policies and procedures
established by the OF Since its inception in 2002, TRRS has disseminated mora
than 2,800 intélligence information reports to members of the intelligence, pokey,
and law enforcement commaunities. When possible, these reports have been
produced at the unclassified level in te order to allow rapid information shanng
with state and local security entlies
Operational Support Branch
The Operational Support Branch is comprised of three sections: National Threat
Center Section, CT Operational Response Section, and Terrorist Financing
Operations Section The National Threat Center and CT Operational Response
Sections have been reorganized to better accomplish CTD's mussion,
- The National Threat Ceater Secuon administers CT Watch, which is discussed
above, as well as four other units relating to threat management,
1. The Threat Monitoring Unit (TMU) supports the FBI's operanonal role
in defending the United States from the threat of terrorism by receiving, assessing,
and disseminating threat information and information regarding suspicious
activities in conpunction with PBIHQ, FRI Field Offices, Legats, and the USIC
Each month, the TMU processes approximately 1,000 threat and st: USPICIOUS
activity referrals fom vanous federal. stats, and local governmental and law
enforcement agencies, engurimg that the appropnate FBI units, TTF s, and other
government agencies are sxpeditiously apprized of the threat information. In
addition, more than 2,700 seraficant threat and suspicious activity reports nave
heen recorded mto a searchable database of TMU threats.
