tnd teating that Warren Olney had called me and commented he

he would like tu discuss with me so that "we won't get into a
memo-wrtting contest." Ke stated he was too busy on December 15:

observation that: he had Previously told you that when he became
Assistant Attorney General in Charge of the Criminal Division,
he fotnd that there were many members in the Department who
did not like the F3I and were endeavoring, when the cpportunt ty * e
|presentes ttself, to put the FBI on the spot. He further stated. he
that he had informed you that he intended to eradicate any on
such feelings in the Department; that he intended that the Nw:
Departmental Attorneys and the FEI representatives Junetion Ls
on a very amicable basis and that he, Olney, has been fo,
endeavoring to do that. He commented that quite a few of the aN

received in connection with the case entitled, "Unknown |
Subjects; United States vs. Umberto unastasio; Chstruction of
y Justice." Olney: prefaced his renarks that he was not of the
ffopinion that we should have conducted an inve- tigation of
alleged jury tampering in the trial of Umberto Anastasio
and thet he was, as a matter of fact, “writing a letter to
