In the lay, 1949 issue of "The German American", New
Yobks-appeared an article on page 12 entitled, "Artists and ;
Intellectuals in Favor of Peace." It reported that from March
25, to 27th a Conference for World Peace was held in Mew York
which was called by the "National Council of Arts, Sciences,
and Professions." Sponsors of the conferance were important
artists, writers, and scientists. Albert Linstein's neme
appeared on the list of Sponsors. Aecording to the article
the conference was 9 great success and helped the cause of
peace to a vast extent throughout the world. It further stated
that foreign delegates from the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia,
Romania, Yugoslavia, Poland, and other countries were ts speal.
