On November 25, 1959, while serving time in the
Federal Penitentiary at Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, ANGLIN attempted
to escape by sawing through the bars of his cell. The following
names and address were found hidden inside his fountain pen and

ANGLIN 1s a white male, whose birth has been variously
listed as May 11, 1930, 1931, 1932; Apriz 11, 1931, and March il
1930, at Donalsonville, Georgia, and Colquitt, Georgia. -
At the time of ANGLIN's escape from Alcatraz, he was
serving a sentence of 17 years for bank robbery and attempted
escape. He received this sentence on February 10, 1958, and.
was subsequently transferred from the United States Penitentiary,
Leavenworth, Kansas, to Alcatraz.
