ATLANTA MEIPOROLITAN TASK FORCE ON MISSING & MIRDERID CHTLOPEN
Since Joly of 1979, 21 black children fom the Atlanta metropolitan
area have dizsppeared, Twenty of them wore subsequently found murdered arid
one is still miseing. Nine of the victim!’ bedies were formd within the
geographical houndartes of the City of Atlanta, four in the City of East
Point, two in Fulton County, throe in Dokalb County, one in Cobb county,
ami one in Rockdale County.
In July of 1529, the Atlanta Department of Public Safety established
a Special Task Foros for the sole mmypose of investigating the cases of the
Missing and slain children. Presently, the following agencies have azsigned
investigators tp the Special Task Force on Miseing and Murdared Children: |
1} Atlanta Bureau of Police Servias:, 2) Clayton County Police Department,
3) Dekalb Qounty Police Department, 4) East Point Police Department,
S} Fulton County District Attorney's Office, 6) Fulton County Police
Departient, 7) Gorgla Bureau af Investigation, 8} Pockdale County
Sheriff*s Department, and 9) Cobb County Police feparnment.
Because of the milttyurisdictional involvement in these cases,
it {# necessary to establish clearly defined guidelines for the operation
of the Special Task Forte. This Gonclision is based upon the collective
aqveamant of all agency hestis imvolved after they reached the conclusion
- that the Task Forve is the best way to proosed in handling the cases of
the missing an? murticyed children, To that end, this docment represents
an official agrenment between the 12 law enforoanent agencies Listed
hereafter:
