UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF ‘yYUSTICE
_ FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION

. Today, Law Day, I had the privilege of hearing f) -.
Mr. Charles D. Brennan, Chief of the Internal Security : G
Section, speak before the First Friday Club of Cleveland on
the topic "New Left". Mr. Brennan's appearance was in cop-
junction with Law Day recognition sponsored by the Legal
Profession of Greater Cleveland. Seis"
Dear Mr. Hoover:
His presentation was outstanding in every respect,
and was well received by the approximately 800 people who
attended. Your thoughtfulness in making Mr. Brennan avail-
able to us in Cleveland has certainly enhanced the Bureau's
jmage, not only in this area, but throughout the country.
The individuals who heard Mr. Brennan were primarily in the
legal profession--judges, attorneys and business leaders of
the community, and all commented without hesitation that
Mr. Brennan's performance was outstanding. Many mentioned that
we are in good hands as long as you are directing the Bureau.
In addjtion, I had the opportunity to meet with
Bishop Fulton J-“Sheen, who was in Cleveland today to
celebrate a special mass in recognition of Law Day. Bishop
Sheen expressed most sincerely his admiration for you and
the work of the Bureau. He informed me that you are one of
the greatest men in our country today, and hope hat you Se
will continue in your present capacity. GY = - eS G—
