RE: BLACK PANTHER PARTY (BPP)
On mn serarasrenres CE T-l advised that the BPP
rally at the Kimberly Housing Project in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina, was held at approximately 5 PM on July 30,
1972. This source estimated there were approximately
2,000 people in attendance at the rally and the BPP gave
avay about 1,000 bags of groceries which had been previously
solicited from local merchants. During the course of the
rally BPP members gave free sickle cell anemia tests to
approximately 800 people and approximately 300 persons

During the ‘rally it was announced that those
persons in attendance could obtain free children's tennis
shoes at BPP headquarters, 1333 North Patterson Avenue, ,
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, under the BPP's free
clothing program.
HAZEL aR’ MAck, an officer of the North Carolina
Chapter..of the Black Panther Party, acted as emcee for
this affair and introduced the following speakers:

l. LARRY LITTLE, head of the North Carolina
Chapter of the BPP. LITTLE talked about the oppression
of black people and called for the unity of all blacks.
He spoke of the death of JOSEPH IRWIN WADDELL, a BPP
member who recently died in North Carolina Central Prison,
Raleigh, North Carolina. LITTLE told the assembled group
that the BPP was now a political organization and that he
intends to run for an unidentified public office in the
future.
2. Reverend MOSES \SMALL, pastor of a local
Baptist church and a candidata for Winston-Salem City-County
School Board. Reverend SMALL compared the BPP's efforts
in feeding the poor to that of JESUS feeding the multitudes.
He talked about the new image of the BPP and how the BPP
was now a political organization.
