NARCHES ON WASHINGTON AND DEMONSTRATIONS
SCHEDULED FOR TH OPHWING GF CONGRESS
Reports from Gincinnati deted Novenber 21, 1932,
i indicate that about 200 delegates were expected to arrive in
Cincinnati from Colums 2, 3, and 5, and that about twenty
delegates from Cincinnati, Hamilton, and Middletom, Ohio,
would join the three hundred in Cincinnati. The organizers
wil, encourage youths, negroes, women, and shop workers to
be delegites. The Mayor of Vincennes, Indiana, has refused
reguests ta provide food and shelter for the marchers.

Reports from St. Louis, Missouri, dated Novenber 21
stote thut the Mayor of Soringfield, Illinois, received ea form
letter fron the National Hunger Warch Committee signed by one
D. Brown, Chicago Secretary, statins that aporoximately 250
hunger merchers intended to arrive in Springfield on November 25
and depart on November 26 en route to Washington. The letter
demanded that tae Mayor furnish them with food, lodying, gnsoline,
and safe conduct through the city, to which a revly wis made that
they would be furnished wita safe conduct, but that the other
demands could not be met. #
These reports further indicate thet St. Louis, “issouri,
Communi s 4 Party sympathizers had been sunplied with tin cups and
nstructed to mo ke a house to house canvuss to secure alme or
unds for the llational Hunger Marchers.
The reports further stute that a lre. Sophie Levine has
orgenized « comnittee of three Imovm as "The Food and Clothing
Committee", composed of herself, her husband, «nd one S. Manewitz.
Individuals are directed to bring clothing and food to their par-
ticular units and from these units to the genersl Commnist Party
Hesdauarters at 1243 North Gerrison Avenue, St. Louis, where they
will be ready for the ations ‘1 Hunger Marchers as soon as they
arrive.
