Reports. from Salt Lake City state that one Louis
Deon, now residing at 1014 Vest 17th Strest, Cheyenne,
wyoming, -who claims to be Cuartermaster of the Bonus
Expeditionary Force, has recently been soliciting memberships
in this force at Cheyenne, Wyoming, for which he charges a
fee. Police records show he was arrested in Cheyenne, Tyoming,
September 5, 1932, on a vagrancy charge and released the fol~
lowing day.
These reports indicate that two hundred marchers *
from Gan Francisco and intervening oointsvere expected in
Denver, Colorado, sbout November 22. Thirty vere exrectcd to
join this group at Denver and the entire grouo ies to then
leave November 23 for Washington. It is stated thet the
twenty-coight persons who arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah, on
November 19 are suid to have left on freight treins., Twenty
persons from Salt Lake City, who are believed to be strictly
residents of Salt Lake City, Left on November ZL. The mujority
jeft by truck, but 2 few were in sutomobiles. This purty of
twenty is ssid to be comnanded by Chick Rolfe, ssid to be an
€x—Service man.
Reports from Pittsburgh under date of November 21
indicate that a meeting wis held on November 11 to muke prensr-
ations for a Hunger Merch to Washington on December 5, :nd to
feed and shelter one of the main colurmse of marchers from the
vest, which is to arrive in Pittsburgh December 1. One Tom
Meyerscough presided and Fred Kerns spoke. A connittee of
thirty wos appointed to function wntil the surchers leave Pitts-
burgh. These reporbs state that the main body of marchers are
to ride in trucks instead of automobiles, so ua not to give the
parade the appearance of prosperity.
‘nother meeting was held November 13 in order to raise
funds to finance the hunger march. Those attendine this -eeting
comprised what is culled "The United Front Committee", about one-
third of which were negroes and three were women. One truck for -
tne hunger march had been secured, uccording to reports.
