outside of the north fence of the United States Coast
Guard Station in the parking lot. REED advised that
he did not give anyone permission to use his vehicie. The
pliers and wire cutters found in his vehicle were displayed
to him and he stated that they did not belong to him and
did not belong in his vehicle.
REED accompanied SA ISADORE H. MANN (A) to the
location of his vehicle, at which time REED advised that the
subject could not have moved his vehicle because his battery
was low. At that time RONALD LEE REED and SA MANN found a
copper wire attached to the key switch of his vehicle.
REED advised that he had not placed this on his vehicle
and was of the opinion that the subject was endeavoring
to jump the switch on the vehicle in the endeavor to
get it started.
On April 11, 1957, SAM MORRIS, Assistant Industrial
Manager, United States Coast Guard, Terminal Isiand, Califor-
nia, advised that it would be impossible to identify the
pliers and wire cutters in question as having come from
the United States Coast Guard Station at Terminai Isiand,
California. He stated that there was an abundance of
tools of this type and description on the base in various
locations. He stated that these items are not accountable.
On April 11, 1957, STANLEY PUCHOSIC, Boatswain,
United States Coast Guard, Terminal Island, California,
advised that he did not see the subject on Aprii 10, 1957.
He stated that the subject's general work orders, while at
the United States Coast Guard, were to take care of the
north half of the grassed area of the United States Coast
Guard Station.
STANLEY PUCHOSIC could not identify the pliers
and wire cutters in question as being property of the United
States Coast Guard. He, however, advised that the wire
cutters could have been his, PUCHOSIC'S, inasmuch as they
were missing. He stated that he knew that he waa in possession
of a pair of wire cutters on April 10, 1957, inasmuch as
he saw them in his tools when he, PUCHOSIC, reported for
work on April 10, 1957.
