HEADQUARTERS 3° ARMORED CAVALRY REGIMENT OPFICR OF THE REGIMENTAL COMMANDER Fort Lewis, Washington 98433 AETDR-CO 27 April 1972 Sua €é., Mr. J. Earl Milnes Ce Federal Bureau of Investigation, SAC 1015 2d Avenue Seattle, Washington 98104 Dear Mr. Milnes, Now that the Army's participation in the search for D, B. Cooper has been completed, | would fike to express to you my appreciation for the outstanding assistance and cooperation which you and your agents gave to [and his squadron. ft would have been b6 understandable had the Bureau confined its participation only to bic those aspects of the search which required the presence of its agents. To the contrary, your agents participated to the fullest extent, and the manner in which they did so was most impressive. Their willingness to share the hardships of field duty and their cheerful cooperation in the search efforts reflects most favorably on their professionalism and on your leadership. On behalf of allt Army members of the search force, I express my sincere appreciation to you and all agents who took part in the operation. Sincerely, b6 b7c ERIALIZED____-FILED _————= MAY 2 972 FBI-— SEATTLE
