letter signed by "Joe Hodd of the Elenor Club” together with a news clipping
which were furnished the Boston Office by lr, CEDI:IC FOST&H, Yankee Network

_ In this connection, you are advised that a check of current and
past city and telephone directories fail to reveal that a person by the name
of JJ¢ HOOD resides in the clty of Laurcl, Mississippi, There are several
"HOCUS" Listed in the city directory and it was determined through a general
incuiry that this is quite a common name in a section of rural Jones County.
In both instances these persons ere of the white race, In neither instance wes
there determined to be a member of the negro race by tne name of JOE HOOD, It
is pointed out, however, that no extensive investigation was condvcted to deter~
mine the identity of the author of the Jetter to Mr. FCSTER,
