Specifically, there has heen but one rape case in recent vears in ubject was anember of the negro race. This case involves one ese who has been twice convicted of the rape of a white woman at rei, Mississippi, This case is pending for the second time on eppeal to ' the Supreme Court of Mississippi. This crime oocurred in 1945. During 1946 ; there were two rape cases in the vicinity of Laurel, but in each instance the : subject was a white man and in one case the victim was a five-year-old negro , child.
