In the information supplied by the Detroit Office concerning the
race riots, practically all of the matters in the attached memorandum were
ecvered much more thoroughly, with the exception of the anti-Semitism on the
ri . part of negroes and the political exploitation of Detroit negroes. The latter,
het \ however, was covered briefly by Special Agent in Charge Buges in referring to
is some of the causes leading up to the riots.
It is noted on the second page of the attached memorandum the writer
Se deals with miscegenation and social intercourse between negroes and whites.
oo While this was referred to in the Detroit Office's summary, no philosophical
an discussion was entered into.
ae a No reference was
4a by the Detroit Office to the activities of Mrs.
fon gy Roosevelt and Vice President Wallace which are referred to at the top of the
geo third page of the attached memorandum wherein these two individuals are referred
ye to as having “done more to agitate the whites and over-encourage the negroes...
oo TREE. than any other sincle group outside of the Comsunists in the United States."
o While the Detroit Office did not refer to this, it is to be noted that the
Be files, especially with respect to the negro situation in other parts of the
: epuntry, reflect numerous complaints, especially with regard £0. the First Lady.
