' FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION San Diego, California, July 31, 1968 , In Reply, Please Refer to FileNo. SD 175-10 POSSIBLE THREAT TO SENATOR MC CARTHY FUND RAISING DINNER _ AUGUST 11, 1968, : LIFORNIA HOTEL DEL CORONADO, CA eoet nara JOE MULLEN, San Diego Area Manager, Senator EUGENE MC CARTHY, Campaign Headquarters, San Diego, California, advised that on July 26, 1968, during the evening hours, he received a telephone call from an unidentified individual who inquired concerning Senator MC CARTHY's possible appearance at a fund raising dinner at the Hotel Del Coronado, Coronado, California, on August 11, 1968, The individual talked for about thirty minutes on the telephone, after which another unidentified individual talked for about fifteen minutes. - Both of these individuals had anti-MC CARTHY attitude during = the conversation, but did not make any kind of overt threat against him. They seemed interested in MC CARTHY's whereabouts and whether he would appear at the fund raising dinner. The dinner will be from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM on August 11, 1968. Mr. MULLEN advised that this is the first telephone call of this kind received at the MC CARTHY Campaign Headquarters in San Diego. - “+ .
