For the benefit of constituted authorities these finger-

In mainteining its fingerprint files, the Division of
Investigation employs the Eenry system with current extensions, which
utilizes 211 10 fingers considereé as a unit for the classificetion and
filine of prints. In acdition there is mainteined a separate collec-
tion of fincerprints of kidnapers ané extortionists, which ere filed
inéivieuelly or singly. This collection is en euxiliary to the main file
end is used primerily for the purpose of identifying latent fingerprints
left at the scenes of crimes by kidnapers en extortionists. Unless
litent fingerprints of such offenders cre t!-ose of the individuals whose ©
separate impressions are filed in the sinzle-print collection, it is
difficult for she Division to identify the lctent prints. However, if .
the nemes or aliases of any suspects are furnished the Tivision together
with descriptive information, then the actuel prints may be compered va
with the letent impressions and thus it may be possible to establish an -;,
identification. aay
