Far pestern rolicy
The Committee for a Democratic Far Eastern Policy sponsored
a dinner at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on or about April 3,
1946, exact date not given, which was attended by about 700 people.
Approximately $10,000 was collected at this banquet. The speeches
called for a political and economic democracy for the Chinese people
and for friendship between the U. S. and the Soviet Union. Messages
of congratulation were received and read to the audience from Secretary
of Commerce Henry A. Wallace, Senator Claude Pepper and government
representatives and individuals from stage and screen including
