September 29, 1950 ww {Srdex ‘VSD UPRRRGEIS ALBERT SINATRA “MMGTT#@ Eka FRANK SINATRA “Tits STATUS fer: _aeant Sinatra is™@Nésabject of Bureau file 25-244122, which aa was opened in February, 1944, to inquire into his Selective Service status following receipt of an anonymous letter which had been addressed to Walter Winchell alleging that Frank Sinatra had paid $40,000 to obtain a 4-F classification. Inquiry by the Newark Office revealed that@itfaGea-had been properly classified 4-F on December 11, 1943, because of an ear ailment. The psychiatrist who examined Sindtra a@igoUfencluded that*Sinatra was psychoneurotic, but this was not given as the official reason for his 4-F classification. This matter was closed by the Newark of fee on February 24, 1944. Sinatra is also the subject of Bureau file 9-11775, captioned "kidnapping Threats He®eived by Frank Sinatra" which was opened and closed on the basis of a teletype from Los Angeles dated June 14, 1944. This matter was predicated upon a statement made by Walter Winchell, which appeared in the Los Angeles Herald Express of June 13, 1944, to the effect that the Frank Sinatras had rééei#édBtnatch threats." When Sinatra was contacted on June 14, 1944, he denied receiving any kidnapping or extortion threats. Winchell was not interviewed concerning his source of information, and the matter was closed, | =+té In August, 1943, Bureau file 62-83219 was opened for the purpose of filing miscellaneous information received concerning Frank Sinatra. . » Soke a vf 1 KE IE 1
