On January 17, 1939, a No Bill was returned and the complaint was dismissed on January 24, 1939. The files of the Identification Division also reflect that Sinatra was fingerprinted on October 7, 193, by the War Department as a member of the USO Camp Shows, Incorporatad, and that on January 30, 19h7, he was fingerprinted by the Sheriff's Office, Los Angeles, California, in connection with an application for a A "New York Times" news article datelined at Hollywood, April 9, 1947, reported that Frank Sinatra had been arrested that day on a charge of hitting Lee Mortimer, identified as a New York columist, outside of Ciro's Restaurant on the night of April 6. The article reported that Sinatra was arrested on a battery warrant based upon a complaint by iortimer and was taken in custody at the Colunbia Broadcasting Company studios in Hollywood and brought before the Beverly Hills Justices Court. Sinatra entered a plea of not guilty. Bail was set at $500 and the trial was set for May 27, 197.
