of the Caltfornta Labor School. The Caltfornia Labor School
has been designated by the Attorney General of the United

requested to obtain pu ctty and atd for Diatrict Attorney
Edaund Brown tn connection with Brown's tnuesttgation of the
"Hothers, Wtves and Sisters of JSA,” allegedly an "“antt-
administration" organization tn San Francisco. (62-76249-11,page &)
A highly confidential source has aduised this
Bureau that in December, 1944, an unknown man had been con-
tacting prominent people in San Franctsco and informing thea
that the Caltfornta Labor School was dominated by Co nists.

Attorney Edrnund Brown and after a long chat waa allegedly
assured that Brown would give the school and
"clean bill of sale to anybody in town."
In January, 1945, an informant made avatlable a
list of names prepared at the California State Communtst Party
headquarters at San Francisco. The list was capttoned -
"Names for 'People's Yorld Advisory Cormtttee.'" Brown's
name was included tn thie ltst along with other public,
unton and clergy officials. Phe "People's ¥orlt,” also
known as the "Datly People's World,” is a west coast conmu-
