(Tesur, 100-38425-91) According to an tnfornant, a meeting of the Fhitney Club, Conmuntst Polittcal Association, Alameda County, California, was held on Hay 2, 1946, ac Cakland, Calitfornta. According to the informant, the members were instructed to vote for Brown for State Attorney General. (SF 1453, 100-359085-1) The Assistant Chief of Staffs Intelligence, J. S. Arnys has cdvised this Bureau that on June 14, 1946, the Mobilization for Denocracy sponsored @ public meeting at the Olympte Audito- rtum in Los Angeles, California, at which Brown spoke. The Mobilization for Denocracy has been cited as one of the "key communist fronts in Californta,” by the California Committee on Un-American Activities, Report 1947. (100-343748-9) In October, 1946, an informant advised thts Bureau that the Tollywood Independent Citizens Committee of the Arts, Setences end Professions (FICCASP) was devoting tts main efforts toward the November, 1946, elections and was going to intenstvely suppvort a@ number of candidates, including Edmund G. Brown, who was running for State Attorney General. The HICCAS? ts an afftliate of the Independent Citizens Committee of? the Arts, Sctences and Professtons, which ts cited as @ comnunist front by the Congressional Committee on ImeAmertcan Actiutties. (100-138754-136 According to a highly conficiential source, the nane of Edmund G. Brown, 460 Magellan Avenue, San Francisco, appeared tr the indices of the Joint Anti-YFascist Refugee Committee, San Francisco, as of March 17, 1948.
