A definite conclusion was not reached whether the questioned writing on Q172 was prepared by the writer or writers of the-unidentified questioned writing on items previously submitted in this case or in case captioned—"SYMBIONESE__ LIBERATION ARMY (SLAY EM", due-to the:.lack of sufficiently comparable writing, the presence of unexplained variations and the limited amount of portions of questioned writing. A definite conelusion was not reached whether the questioned writing on Q172 was prepared by any of the writers of previously submitted known or purported known writing in this case or in the SLA case due to the presence of unexplained variations and the lack of sufficiently comparable writing. Three weapons are present in the Q173 photograph. . The weapon which is being held appears to be a modified .30 caliber U.S. Carbine. This carbine appears to have been restocked and mounted with a telescopic sight. Yurther, it appears that the barrel has been shortened and the front sight has been moved back. Two 30 round tube magazines | {(bannana clips) appear to have been taped together opening in pppasite directions so as to facilitate rapid change of: clips. . on The weapon in the left pocket is most similar to & 9mm Browning “Hi~Power" or 9mm Fabrique Nationale Model 1935 semiautomatic pistol. Such a waapon chambers and fires the 9mm Luger (9mm Parabellum) cartridge. The weapon leaning up against the wall appears to be a sawed-off, slide action repeating shotgun. Based on the physical characteristics of the portion of this weapon as displayed in the photograph, this weapon could be a Winchester Model 12, 25, 42 or 97 shotgun. The submitted items are being returned separately. Appropriate photographs were made. A definite conclusion was not reached whether the remaining questioned writing on the items submitted was prepared | -by the writers of unidentified questioned writing, known writing or purported known writing on items previously submitted, due to the limited amount of this questioned writing.
