Dr. Miron felt that Mr. Hearst by expressing amazement
‘was not helping the situation concerning his daughter and if he , ~
is going to continue to appear before the press he should adopt \L
other tactics. !
- Dr. Miron, as you will recall, suggested at a meeting
at FBIHQ on April 3, 1974, that Patricia Hearst was the perfect
subject to be kidnaped because she would lean upon and adopt
the attitude of her kidnapers and predicted she would adopt a
very hostile attitude toward the FBI and all of this was before
the tape in which Patricia Hearst stated she was joining the
SLA. Dr. Miron stated that while Patricia Hearst has been
_ assimilated by the SLA with proper treatment she could be
brought back into the real world. He said that her case is not
unique. We had defectors after the Korean War who were brought
back to reality upon their return to the United AYES
ea
-He stated that psychiteds. ty bes’ coula give support
to the Hearst family and that they should not limit their
contact to one person. Dr. Miron expressed the desire if possibile
to personally talk to Mr. and Mrs. Hearst and felt that he could
possibly explain to them the reasons for their daughter's action
and the fact that all is not lost, that she can be retrieved.
He stressed that the Hearsts should not depend on any one
psychiatrist or sociologist for guidance"BUt snoulad-get a
