ere eS Ce OEE VU VED ENDS Ow OOeret POUT. Tal) ~ Memorandum to Mr. Gebhardt Re: HEARNAP For the benefit of individuals receiving copies of this memorandum who were not at the briefing session, | Dr. Miron described Patricia Hearst as a dependent person, immature, docile, and suggestable. He said she was a captive in every sense of the word and was using SLA members as psychotherapists. Her intellect was average and undistinguished and under her status change said she identified herself with her aggressors. In short, he said she was the perfect subject to be kidnaped because she would lean upon and adopt the attitude of her kidnapers. He predicted that when she was - released by her abductors she would adopt their very hostile . attitude toward the FBI and would refuse to be interviewed or have anything to do with the FBI. All of this was before the last tape in which Patricia Hearst stated she was joining the SLA. ACTION: It is requested that all of the persons who attended Dr. Miron's briefing of his analysis of the four tapes in the Hearst kidnaping case furnish a critique to the General Investigative Division. It would be appreciated if this > could be handled by close of business April 12, 1974. LY Re pe wa
