THIRD COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM SYMBIONESE LIBERATION ARMY SLA WITH CASSETTE CONTAINING VOICE OF VICTIM AND CINQUE, ¢ 16/7 . On 2/16/74, Agents of the San Francisco Office (SFO) were furnished an envelope which was opened when received and contained a Zenith compact C-60 cassette in its container. The recording on the cassette contains a female voice which has been identified by the victim's father as his daughter. The victim states that she is 0.K. and that there was some + Misunderstanding about the demands previously made on her fyi father. The victim indicates that the SLA understands that * her father wants to meet the demands and that they (the SLA) were not trying to present an unreasonable request. She indicates that she is alive and well and that it is depressing to hear people talk as though she were dead and that this type of talk gives the FBI an excuse to come in and try and pull her out. She goes on to state that she is sure that . Mr. Bates understands that if the FBI has to come in and get her out by force they will have to kill everyone. She claims it is important to the SLA that she return safely and that she will be 0.K. as long as the SLA demands are met and as long as the two prisoners at San Quentin are 0.K. A male voice is on the tape and as a way of introduction says "This~is_hield. Marshal Cin" and indicates they will accept any sincere BHOn on Hearst's part.
