He had no recollec- tion of seeing any Negroes in the group but pointed out that: the male who had entered the front seat of the car and the male who, as instructed, entered the rear seat of the car with nim could have been either Negro or White. Although he is not certain there could have been a third person in the front seat. Ile also believes there could have been auotner car in the vicinity and the fifth person could have gotten into the second car. . _— After BENENSON was bound and gagged he was initially forced down on the floor immediately in front of the rear seat. lHiowever, there was not really enough room for his body to fit. in that space so he ultimately pulled his head up on the rear seat on the passenger side. As he lay face down on the seat he was aware of the odor of srease and metal, and believes he was lying next to or possibly on top of a long gun barrel such as that for a rifle. He remembers at one point feeling this metal against his sxin. As they drove away from the above location, the female in the rear seat with BENENSON stated something to the effect, "I don't want no bullshit. I'm tired of bullshit people". ile further recalled hearing the male driver state, after driving only approximately 100 yards, somthing to the effect of, “There's something funny about this car". BENENSON noted during tne interview that the car was not tuned up and dic have some carburetor problems. ; te As they drove along BENENSON was aware that the car made several right hand turns. He believes*the driver made ‘some wrong turns as he heard the female in the rear seat with him state something to the effect, "We haven't got any time to-be fooling around now", to which statement the male driver : se Ne ta, 36
