DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD IN RESPONSE TO INITIAL DEMANDS BY SLA:

On 2/22/74, distribution of food was initiated in
accordance with previous arrangements made after the $2 million
contribution. Numerous disturbances occurred and it was
necessary for police to intervene. At the food distribution
center, 8740 East 14th Street, Oakland, California, police
officers were rocked and bottles were thrown. An unidentified
cameraman was injured during the melee and removed from the
area in an ambulance. Oakland Police Department patrol units
ultimately cleared the street and the crowd dissipated.
GLOVE LOCATED IN VEHICLE IN WHICH VICTIM WAS FIRST TRANSPORTED:

As previously indicated in summary memorandui dated
2/20/74, a leather and cloth gleve had been found in the vehicle
of Peter Benenson. Color photographs of the giove were furnished
to appropriate offices in effort tec identify its owner as _
Benenson had denied any. ; it. Glove was displayed
by Indianapolis to ciose friend and sorority
Sister -of Emily Harris: advised that the glove
appeared similar -to gloves owne Emily Harris in 1970. It
was also determined that Emily Harris was employed on a part-time
basis with the Ayers Department store, Bloominaton, Indiana, the
sole outlet for this glove in the United States. The photograph
of the glove was also displayed to the former manager of another
store owned by L. S. Ayers and she identifiec it as being
identical to a pair of driving gloves worn by Emily Harris. It
fi noted previous investigation has indicated that. Emily and

William Harris are close associates with the SLA and are believed
to have beer. directly involved with the kidnaping
