On this date, Ambassador Lewis Hoffacker, Chairman, Working Group, Cabinet Committée to Comba errorisn, telephonically contacted me and stated he had had a request from Attorney General (AG) Younger of the State of California maliing the same request as set forth in the Director's memorandum. In addition, Ambassador Hoffacker stated that he had learned that~’ Nr. Younger had already contacted G Canerad Walters at CIA and that ai his request for this “war game distussion was not held he might ey ta the White House in an effort to have it approved.__ Ambassador Hof facker was advised that the Director had been contacted in line with the above and would advise the Ni i \ Ambassador Hoffacker subsequently advised that he ~ had contacted Geoff Sn eper ee: ‘the White House representative on the Cabinet Committeé torking Group, who reacted negatively to this request. Mr. Shepard ~ stated that he would discuss the problem at the White House and be in further contact with the Ambassador. Ambassador Hoffacker stated he has no preference either way.
