Both of these individuals have been charced with violation of the Federal Kicnaping Statute and their apprehension a1 well as the recov: of the ransom is being vigorously pursued. On March 6, 1974, John Calzadilla, eight years old, was abducted on his way home from school in Dix Hills, New York. His father paid the $50,000 ransom on the evening of March 7, 1976, and the victim was released Curing the early morning hours of March 8, 1974. Later the same day, two individuals were arrested for their participation in the kidnaping and subseonently three others have been identified and arrested. Currently three other Subjects have been identified and intensive efforts are continuing to apprehend them and recover the ransom loot. During the late evening hours of March $, 1974, four unidentified individuals forced their way inte the home of Willian Biseli Daniel, Manager of a K-Mart discount store in Stone Hountain, Georgia. Hrs. Daniel was taken as a hostage and it was demanded that Mr. Danicl obtain money from the store safes, Kr. Daniel following the instructions of the abductors paid $20,000 to $30,060 ransom and Mrs, Daniel was released unharmed Guring the early morning hours of March 10, 1974. Extensive FSI investigation is being conducted under the Hobbs Act Statute to identify and apprehend the unknown subjects, On February 27, 1974, the PBI learned that convicted éircraft hijacker, Garrett Brock Trapnell, currentiy confined at the Los Angeles County Jail, had conceived a plan to kidnap a Consul General residing in the Los Angeles, California, area, Trapnell planned to demané his releasa and that of his co-conspirator from jail, political asylum for the two in Sweden and $250,000 for the return of the Consul General. Maria Alonzo, who was instrvo- mental in putting the unsuccessful Plan in operation was arrested by the FBI on March 9, 1974. At the time of her arrest, a tape recorder, wig, a loaded .22 caliber revolver and notes relating to the plan were seized, Trapnell, Robert Bernard Hedberg and Alonzo have been charged with conspiracy to violate the Federal Kidnaping and the Escape and Rescue Statutes, ; .
