WEINE®S then drove alone from Albuquerque, ‘lew |-exice to Houlder, Colorade, arriving at 5 a.w. on January 10, 1975, and he stayed with his brother, ED WEINER, At noon on Januaryfl 1975, he received a telephone call from MICKI SCOTT, who was in Portland, Oregon, and MICKI told WEINER that BILL WALTON f wanted to break his silence with the news media and be inter- ° viewed by WEINER, WEINER called "Newsday", Garden City, New York, and received an "okay" for expenses he would ineur while aa traveling to Portland to interview WALTON, WEINER departed ‘ Denver, Colorado, for Portland, Oregon, on January 11, 1975, via a 10 a.m. United Airlines Flight. WEINER was met at the airport in Portland by JACK and MICKI SCOTT, and BILL WALTON was interviewed that evening. The interview with WALTON went poorly that night since WALTON was holding back. On the following morning, January 12, 1975, WEINER told WALTON ; and the SCOTTs that there was no reason to interview WALTON i if he would not be candid. Two friends of BILL WALTON, RANDY CEN and ABRAHAM (LNU), came over to the house on January 12, 1975, and argued with WALTON that he should not give an open and “ candid interview to the news media. WALTON got mad at these individuals and told WEINER he was ready to give an open and candid interview at that time.
