from the same weapon as any of the .30 Carbine caliber
cartridges and cartridge cases previously submitted in
this case. However, marks on the primer of the Q1045 cartridge
case were identified as having been produced by the same source
which produced marks on the primers of the 0197 and Q199
cartridge cases and the Q206 cartridge recovered inside the
Hibernia Bank. Although the specific source cannot be
determined, these markings are typical of reloading marks
produced during the seating of a primer.
The headstamp "LC 52" present on specimens Q1041,
01043 and Q1045, as well as the "LC 5” and "LC 53" headstamps
present on the 01042 and Q1044 cartridge cases indicate these
cartridge cases were originally manufactured for military use
by the Lake City Ordnance Plant, Independence, Missouri.
Specimen Q1039 bears a "PC 42" headstamp which indicates Peters
Cartridge Company, Kings Mill, Ohio, manufacture. The Q1040
cartridge case bears a “Frontier 30 Carbine" headstamp which
indicates commercial manufacture by the Frontier Cartridge
Company, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Specimen Q1046 is a 9mm Luger (9mm Parabellum) cartridge
case of Remington-Peters manufacture. Specimens Q1047 and Q1048
are .380 Auto caliber cartridge cases of Super Vel manufacture,
Marks on the rims of specimens Q1047 and Q1048 were identified
as having been produced by a single unknown source. Although
specimens Q1046 through 901048 do not appear to have been fired,
the centers of the primers appear to have been punched out by
something other than the firing pin of a weapon.
Specimens Q1049 through Q1052 are unfired .22 Long
or .22 Long Rifle caliber cartridge cases. Specimens Q1053 is
an unfired .22 Long Rifle caliber brass~-coated lead bullet.
Specimens 01049 through 01053 bear no marks of value for
identification with a weapon.
Specimens Q1107 through 01376 consist of nine boxes
containing 270 .30 Carbine caliber cartridges. Nothing was
found to indicate that any of these cartridges were loaded into.
or extracted from a weapon. ;
Specimens 91107 through Q1206 bear a "W-W 30 Carbine"
headstamp indicating Winchester-Western manufacture. These
cartridges have been loaded with 110-grain copper-jacketed
“hollow soft point" bullets. Specimens Q1207 through Q1256
bear a “Browning 30 Carbine" headstamp indicating Browning
Arms Company manufacture. These cartridges have been loaded
