Officers of the LAPD repeated the annpuncement for the residents of 1466 East 54th Street to cone out, and after waiting a sbort time, fired tear gas into ‘the resicence. This action vas immediately met by heavy gunfire faen the occnpants of the house. The gunfire was returned by law enforcement officers: on the scene, In view of the heavy gunfire being directed at LAPD units surrounding the residence, ADIC SULLIVAN ordered the FBI SWAT feam to support the LAPD. The FBI Si/AT Team, led by SA @ <a moved in, bringing additioral ammunition and tear ¢ ‘APD, Neavy gunfire continued from the. Tosidence until approximately 6:30 p.m, when evidence of a fire in the building was observed. At approxinately 6:45 p.m., a black fcmale, later identified as ¢ BY OSUSON ran from the residence. At approximatel 35 pin, the firing ceased, although frequent explosions were heard from inside the residence. At approximately 7:00 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department units moved in to control the fire. The Fire © Department units had been unable to put out the fire earlier because of continued gunfire from the residence. After the fire was extinguished by the Los Angeles Fire Department, several bodies were located in tbe ruins. Los Angeles County Coroner, who was at 1466 East 54th Street, determined at the scone that the bodies consisted of three white females, one white male, and one Negro male, who had all died in the house. Due to the burns received by the bodies, no identification could be made at that time. ADIC SULLIVAN. determined that there had been no injuries sustaincd by FBI Agents,
