NCIC can help and per my request, ‘ conferred with the General Investigative Division (GID) concerning tne firearm in question, a .30 caliber carbine rifle, semi-automatic modified to fire in an automatic mode and popularly known as Model M-1. NCIC can be of assistance in this case in the following ways: (i) An off-line search will be made of NCIC transaction ; tapes to list all inquiries from May 16, 1974, to date, i wherein the caliber is..30 and the type of firearm is ; automatic rifle (code RA), semi-automatic rifle (code Ri) or carbine rifle (code RC). This listing will be furnished to GID immediately upon completion, This - will identify police agencies having made inquiry on the type and caliber weapon in which we are interested.
