(3 — A listing will be made from the NCIC Stolen Gun File to print out all recovered gun records (ERG) wherein the description is as above. This listing of recovered guns will be furnished to GID im- mediately upon completion. It is noted that re- covered firearms may be entered into the NCIC Stolen Gun File by NCIC users. Recovered guns are entered when an agency has the gun in its pos- session, its origin is unknown and there is no theft report on file. A subsequent theft report (EG) indexed in NCIC will result in a “match' showing that the gun has already been recovered. Sucn a listing will identify agencies in possession of weapons as described above and contact could be made with those agencies for further information in line with instant investigation.
