~30 CALIBER BULLETS AND BULLET FRAGMENTS

Specimens Q1901 and 91917 are .30 caliber copper
bullet jackets which have been fired from a barrel (s)
rifled with twelve lands and grooves, right twist. Rifling
impfessions like those present in these two Specimens have
notjbeen previously encountered in the examination of
Specimens previously submitted in this case. Rifling
impreSsions like those present in specimens Q1901 and Q1917
“Bre produced by .30 Carbine caliber carbines manufactured
_ by the Universal Firearms Corporation, Hialeah, Florida,
and various .30 caliber rifles and carbines manufactured
by the Marlin Firearms Company, New Haven, Connecticut.
Many of the MNarlin-made firearms bear such tradenames as
Glenfield, Revelation, Western Field, et cetera. The Q1901 and
Q1917 bullet jackets bear only limited individual microscopic
marks of possible value for identification with a weapon,
. Specimens Q1914, Q1915, Q1$19 and Q1921 are .30
caliber copper-jacketed bullets and copper bullet jackets
which were identified as having been fired in a Single
barrel, Although the rifling impressions present in these
Specimens are like those present in the previously submitted
bullets and bullet fragments recovered at the abduction and —
robbery scenes, no identifications were effected with these
previously submitted specimens, :
Specimens Q1902, Q1916, Q1920 and Q1922 are
mutilated bullet fragments which bear no. marks of value
for identification purposes. sO
All of the above-listed Specimens are being
temporarily retained in the Laboratory for future comparison
purposes,
