Informan’ t has ow) bID been learned that they were met at the atation by WILLIAM STAFFORD, y) head of the UPHA-GIO in Atlanta, and DONALD L. WEST, a professor at ~~ Oglethorpe University, Atlanta, and top functionary of the Communist Party in Atlenta. ih Mr. WALLACE was driven to Macon, Georgia, in the car of WILLIAM an STAFFORD. CLARK FOREMAN, DONALD L. WEST, Rev. JOSEPH RABUN, and Mr. WALLACE’ s secretary, LEW FRANK, were algo in the car, WILLIAM STAFFORD and DONALD L. WEST returned to Atimta on the afternoon of November 19, 1947. Theat night Mr. WALLACE made an address at the Civic Auditorium On the afternoon of November 20 BALLACE spoke briefly at a regular business meeting of the SCHW which was held in. the Chesber of Commeree Building in Atlanta. He-also attended a reception at Clark University (Negro) where he addressed a group of students, professors, and menbers of the SCHY. On the same afternoon he visited the Fulton County jail te see HORACE WHITE, « CIC textile union organizer, rho in 1946 was convicted of assaulting e textile worker who picket line during a strike at Whittier Hille in Atlanta, bID adyised that on November 23, 1947, DONALD L. KEST told HOMER B. CHASE, organiser for district #31 of the Commnist Party, that the visit to WHITE had besh suggested to Mr. WALLACE while they were en route to Mason on November: 19)<] q The Wallace meeting in Atlanta was held et the iiheat Street Baptist Church (Negro), with between 3000 and 4000 persons present.
